Seasonal: the pads run in the warm months and are off for the year by fall.
A rail trail along a former railway corridor through Sarnia toward Camlachie, flat the whole way, so you can turn around whenever the smallest walker has had enough.
Access to the municipal beach is free, and Main Beach, Main Street and the mini golf are one walk. Parking is the separate cost in the paid lots during the charging season, with some free lots farther from the waterfront.
The village’s public beach on Lake Huron and Mike Weir Park at 2354 Lakeshore Road, a quieter shoreline day than Sarnia’s big park, with the story of the golf course that became Huron Oaks next door.
McEwen’s pebble beach is the calmer choice and Lamrecton is the picnic; none of them is a resort beach, which is exactly what makes them useful with children on a weekday in July. Arnold Minielly Park in Camlachie has a playground for a run-around before the drive home.
Centennial Park for a picnic, or a gentler pause at the Sunken Gardens or Bluebird Parkette, which has a public chess and checkers table if you bring pieces. The community complex, the library and the Old Firehall Museum are all in Watford too.
Brander Park at Port Lambton has a pond and room to run, Sombra Park sits by the village, and the Corunna waterfront looks straight at Stag Island across the St. Clair River.
