Lambton County's oldest fall fair, since 1846

The story

A little history

Founded in 1846, this is Lambton County's oldest fall fair, and 2026 marks its 180th. Generations of Lambton families have grown up with it, and for most of that time one building held it all: the Crystal Palace, a grand exhibition hall that stood on the fairgrounds for nearly a century. Until 1973 it was the only building on the grounds, serving as fair office and exhibit hall in one, before it was finally taken down in 1993.

The Crystal Palace is gone, but the fair it housed keeps right on going. The exhibit halls still fill with baking, quilts and prize vegetables, the barn dance still opens the weekend, and the parade still rolls down Main Street, one hundred and eighty fairs on.

This is the most kid-affordable fair of the season. Every school-aged child and preschooler gets in free, so a whole family can spend a full fair day for the cost of the adults alone. Sunday afternoon stacks the kid fun back to back, with the pedal tractor pull, Cow Patty Bingo and the foam party inside one glorious hour and a half.
