Where to trick-or-treat in Lambton County
Halloween is over for this year. See you next October. See what's on this season
Pumpkins and costumes

- Reids Farm Market, Wyoming. A farm stand at 5688 Oil Heritage Road.
- Twin Pines Orchards & Cider House, Thedford. Pumpkins by the barn store (opens the orchard's site) at 8169 Kennedy Line.
- Juicy-Fruit Orchards, Ravenswood and Thedford. Pumpkins at both farm markets (opens the orchard's site), 9205 Ipperwash Road and 9213 Arkona Road.
Costume ideas and where to shop
- Start with your own closet. Pyjamas and paper ears make an animal, a plaid shirt and jeans a farmer, a sports jersey a pro player. Ask your kids what they want to be, then see what is already in the house.
- Try a thrift store. Value Village (opens the store's page) at 1379 London Road in Sarnia usually has a Halloween section in the fall, and the Goodwill, Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul thrift stores are good for pieces to build your own.
- Visit Spirit Halloween. The seasonal costume store (opens the store's page) is at 1380 London Road in Sarnia, for full costumes, makeup and props.
- Swap with friends. Most costumes are outgrown after one night, so ask other families or post in a local parents' or Buy Nothing group.
- Make one from a box. A cardboard box, paint and tape make a robot, a crayon box or a building brick.
- Finish it at the dollar store. Face paint, hats, capes and wings for a few dollars turn everyday clothes into a costume.
- Dress for the weather. October 31 is often cold or wet, so pick a costume that fits over a coat or snowsuit.
- Help them see and be seen. Face paint is easier to see out of than a mask (try it on a small patch of skin first). Add reflective tape or a glow stick, and keep hems short enough not to trip on.
